How to find out if you are affected by the Equifax hack

Equifax Hacked - 143 Million People Affected

You may have never used the credit reporting agency Equifax yourself, or even heard of it, but they’ve heard of you and they most likely have lots of your personal information.

Up to 143 MILLION people had their data stolen, announced Equifax yesterday, and this include names, birthdates, addresses and some drivers license numbers and credit cards.

A website application was exploited by criminals on July 29th and the breach was announced on September

Equifax gets the bulk of its data from the major credit card companies.  If you have a credit card or a loan you are most likely affected.         Over 200,000 of the records exposed were credit cards.

What you can do?

Equifax recommends, and will pay for you to enroll into, the TrustID Premier service which will monitor your credit file and provide identity protection services.

To see if you qualify go to:

www.equifaxsecurity2017.com

and click on the

Potential Impact tab

You must submit your last name and last six digits of your Social Security number there. At that point, you'll be given a date when you can return to the site and sign up for the service.

The response will look like this..and yes I was affected.

Thank You

Your enrollment date for TrustedID Premier is:09/13/2017

Please be sure to mark your calendar as you will not receive additional reminders. On or after your enrollment date, please return to faq.trustedidpremier.com and click the link to continue through the enrollment process.

I checked if I was part of the breach on Thursday, the day it was announced, and my enrollment date was almost a week later.
